Rear Facing
The best way for a child under 4 years old to travel by car is in a rear-

ISOfix
ISOfix was created to make the fitting of car seats easier. It removes the
room for error with an incorrectly fitted car seat, and makes the seat completely
rigid. Some people consider this more damaging to the human frame, than by having
a little flexibility during the impact.
You can compare these viewpoints here, and decide for yourself. Read more...

What we do
The arrival of your baby can be the most life changing event you may ever experience. Up to this time the only consideration has been yourselves: Now you have a small person who is completely dependent upon you for all their needs.
This can be very frightening. Suddenly you have responsibilities: You have become a parent!!
One thing you have to consider is how you are going to transport your baby? We know there are laws requiring us to be correctly restrained by a seat belt whilst travelling in a car, but what about children? How can we make sure they travel as safely as possible?
Hopefully the information you find on this site will help you make the right choices, so that if you were unfortunate enough to be involved in a crash your child would have the best chance possible of surviving without injury.
So let’s start at the beginning: Why do we need a special car seat for our children?
It is vital that we understand what happens in a crash, because once we understand
the forces involved it will help you to make the right choice of seat and use it
correctly every time.
When a vehicle crashes it stops suddenly, with extreme violence. But the things within
the vehicle carry on travelling at the original speed prior to the impact. If, for
example, we were driving along at 30mph and stopped suddenly, the inertia propelling
us forward would increase our body weight 30 times – roughly to that of an elephant!
In the confines of a car, we will very quickly encounter an obstacle for our bodies
to impact on. Then our internal organs will continue moving forward, literally being
ripped from their positions, until they collide with the bones. This does not make
for pleasant reading, does it?
If we are correctly restrained by a good seatbelt we are kept in position and because the seat belt stretches slightly, it decreases the energy exerted on us.
You should also consider that box of tissues: If it is travelling at 30mph then it
would be the equivalent of a house-
So how do we make sure our children are going to be safe in the car?
So many things to consider:
Do I need a Travel system?
Is a base a better bet?
Is ISOfix safer?
Why do babies travel rear facing?
Do all seats fit?
How long does a seat last?
How long can my baby sit in the seat for?
What about their legs?
How do I get the right advice?
Hopefully as you navigate our web site some of these questions
will be answered, but
please feel free to contact us with
your queries and we will endeavour to answer them.
